Peer Consultation is
a process where child welfare professionals from various
States are able to directly share their unique ideas
on policy evaluation, resources, problem avoidance,
and best practice through focused on-site technical
assistance with other States. Previous State-to-State
Peer Consultation has provided telephone consultation,
information referrals, and technical assistance to resolve
issues related to the development and use of complex
child welfare information systems. The major vehicle
for Peer Consultation has been on-site technical assistance
with States. Examples of State-to-State Peer Consultation

While the Peer Consultation
process is focused on the States, Peer Consultation
may be adapted to accommodate requests from the courts
and tribal child welfare agencies. Some examples of
consultation that may be provided to courts and tribal
child welfare programs include:
- Assistance with enhancing tribal
child welfare data quality and reporting.
- Training for Program Managers and
court staff on data, outcomes, and the Child and Family
Service Reviews.
- Providing strategies to increase
communication among State child welfare agencies,
the courts, and tribal child welfare services.
For more information on developing a Peer Consultation request please contact the NRC-CWDT at (877) 672-4829.
