Required Changes for AFCARS
Data File Transmissions
The goals of the NRC-CWDT are to:
- The mainframe at the NIH Computer Center in
Bethesda, Md., where the AFCARS data files are transmitted, has migrated
to a new mainframe, TITAN.
- TITAN has a higher security protection feature.
- As a result of this migration, two major changes
will need to be made by the States to transmit their AFCARS data file
via CONNECT: Direct:
- the network identifiers to connect to TITAN
will be:
| NDM (C:D) nodename: |
NIH.STD.NDM |
| VTAM applid: |
NIH4NDM |
| VTAM NET id: |
NIH |
- the AFCARS data filename (to be determined
by NIH).
- The change will be effective September 1, 2003
- All AFCARS data files must be transmitted to TITAN.
Data files not received in TITAN will not be processed.
- The Children's Bureau will issue guidance to States
with further instructions
- Technical Bulletin #2, File Format, will be revised
and re-issued
- Prior to full implementation there will be
a testing period
- A State data file transmission form will be sent
to each State, which must be completed and submitted to OIS
