National Resource Center for Child Welfare Data & Technology A Service of the Children's Bureau & Member of the T/TA Network

« Back to Peer Networking

Peer Consultation is a process in which child welfare professionals from various States, Tribes and/or courts are able to directly share their unique ideas on resources, problem avoidance, and best practice through focused technical assistance with other entities.

The consultation may be by conference call, webinar or on site.  The goal of peer consultation is to enhance the capacity for the use of technology and child welfare data in policy, practice, and management decision-making.  Past topics of peer consultation include:

  • Change Management
  • Data Marts
  • SACWIS Conversion Issues
  • Management Reports
  • User Acceptance and Buy-in
  • Staff Training

The role of NRC-CWDT is to facilitate the logistical considerations for the State, Tribe or court and the Peer Consultant(s). Based on the request and requestor input, a group of advisors and the NRC-CWDT will match the Peer Consultant(s) available who will provide expertise that reflect issues in the request of the agency seeking assistance. The Peer Consultation visit can range from a facilitated conference call to an on-site meeting.
