Putting Data Where It Counts: Deploying Child Welfare Data Through OLAP and Data Warehouse Technology

This session highlights the technological and human factor innovations associated with deploying data warehouse information in State child welfare agencies in Utah and Texas. The presentations will include discussion of technical aspects of the approach, demonstrations of the applications, experience with training, and experience with use.

This presentation will first address the data available on the well-being of children. Then it will shift to data related to the safety of children, with an emphasis on neglect. The focus of the presentation will be on where to find data online, how to access data, and finally how to use the data.

The Benefits of an Integrated Electronic Case Calendaring and Scheduling System

The calendaring and scheduling functions of the Pierce County, Washington LINKS System will be highlighted in this presentation on a county-based integrated juvenile case management system that supports both dependency and delinquency case types through data sharing, electronic filing, production of form letters, case tracking and much more. The presentation will provide an overview of the system and the participating agencies, the design of the integrated system including the sharing of data and data security issues, scheduling using limits and time estimates, special court calendars and reports, tracking functions for various agencies, and related functions.

Closing Session – Regency AB Secrets from the Other Side: How IT Vendors Assess Risks This session will focus on risk assessment from the vendor perspective-assessing the risks associated with procurement. The presenters will provide an inside view of the decision-making process associated with making a bid or no bid decision: Who are the players? How is an RFP reviewed and evaluated? What are the ugly questions that have to be asked and answered before a bid decision can be made (e.g., around pricing, scope, and terms and conditions)? The presenters will role-play through the bid/no-bid process for a fictitious vendor. This session will provide valuable insights for States that will help them in developing and budgeting for future procurement.
