About NICWA
The National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) is dedicated to the well being of American Indian children and families. NICWA's vision is that "every American Indian child should have access to community-based, culturally appropriate services, which help them grow up safe, healthy, and spiritually strong - free from abuse, neglect, sexual exploitation, and the damaging effects of substance abuse."

NICWA is a private, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the State of Oregon. NICWA manages its own fiscal affairs and conducts an audit each year through a certified and independent auditor. NICWA defines its primary constituency as Tribal governments and urban Indian social service programs that serve Indian children and families. NICWA is the only national Indian organization, either public or private, that is focused on child abuse and neglect issues that impact Indian children and families.
